65@65 SWIM #3 THE THAMES AT LONG BRIDGES, OXFORD

Updated: Feb 24, 2020

Long Bridges is the site of a former open air river bathing place River Thames close to Donnington Bridge, Oxford. This was one of several public river bathing places in Oxford and was closed at the end of the 1980s. People are still swimming there, though. It is a regular place for people living South of the centre of Oxford, safe from river traffic, especially rowers, who are plentiful. Long Bridges is a little island snook off the Thames and just across the bridge from Mansfield College boathouse.
